At first glance this picture is a bit scary. A giant Lego man is about to squeeze the head of an unsuspecting woman… or is he?!
It’s amazing how proximity affects perspective.
In reality, what appears to be a GIANT is really a toy not even two inches tall. But when it occupies the majority of our view, it takes on a whole different dimension.
That same thing happens with the problems and obstacles we encounter on a regular basis. When we allow them to dominate our view, we make mountains out of mole hills. Carlos Whittaker said it well:
Our ability as humans to make an uncrossable valley out of a crack in the sidewalk is one of a kind. Step Back. Look Again. Step Over. Walk. ~ Carlos Whittaker
When we choose to back up from the obstacle or circumstance that is screaming for our immediate attention two amazing things happen.
First, the obstacle begins to shrink and take on a more reasonable size in proportion to the whole of life.
Second, we begin to see our Creator more clearly within that same frame of reference. He was always there but our view of Him gets hindered when we are preoccupied with the obstacle.
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. ~ Matthew 6:31-34 (NLT)
There is nothing we will come up against this day or this week that is a surprise to God. We may not be able to handle it on our own and it may appear to be a GIANT that dwarfs our view; but we can still choose to trust God and seek Him first.
Seeing mountains or mole hills, what will we choose?

We may not be able to handle it on our own and it may appear to be a GIANT that dwarfs our view; but we can still choose to trust God and seek Him first. I say Amen!
Well said Julie!
