It both fascinates and saddens me when people ask questions like: “What can I do and still get into heaven?” “Can’t we just do it and then ask God to forgive us?” It’s clear from questions like these that people are looking for the “minimum entrance requirements.”
There are situations and places in life where that works… but not with the kingdom of God! Our heavenly Father sacrificed everything for us. Why would we think God wants anything less from us?
“God wants your all. He rightly asks for a 100 percent commitment. His offer is an all-or nothing proposition. And one of the benefits of your full devotion is that, when He’s in His rightful first place, you experience fuller and fuller doses of His sacrificial love.
How did God show His love for you? He didn’t send an angel to bring salvation. He didn’t ask a superhero to rise to the occasion. He didn’t send Spiderman to the rescue. He came Himself. And He didn’t meet us halfway. He gave it all. One hundred percent. And He lovingly demands the same in return. “You must worship no other gods, but only the LORD, for he is a God who is passionate about his relationship with you” (Exodus 34:14, NLT).”
