What images or thoughts come to mind when you hear or see the word freedom? Steven Covey states…
Every human has four endowments: self-awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom… The power to choose, to respond, to change.
In yesterdays’ blog I mentioned that nearly 70% of the world’s 6.8 billion people live in countries with little or no freedom of religion. No matter how many times I read that statistic I simply can’t begin to comprehend what it is to live without freedom, because it’s all I’ve ever known.
But I want to learn to better appreciate the freedom I’ve been given here in America and not take it for granted. I don’t want to misuse my freedom. From a prison cell Paul wrote to the believers in Galatia and said…
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” ~ Galatians 5:13-14
It’s a new day, a new week full of new opportunities to make use of our freedom. God is orchestrating the details of our schedules and the people we will encounter along the way.
What will we do with it?
