Do you recall a time when you asked a question and got ridiculed or made fun of? I don’t mean the good-natured ribbing that happens when everyone laughs at something funny asked by mistake. I mean the kind of jabbing that makes you feel like every eye is glaring at you. Every sneer is aimed at you. And you wish you could be anywhere else in the world at that moment.
We’ve all been there at one time or another. It can happen at school, at work, at social gatherings and even at home for some people. And it leaves you either ready to fight or determined to never ask another question. Why do people delight in making us feel small? Jesus would never do that!
But if any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He is generous to everyone and will give you wisdom without criticizing you. ~ James 1:5 (NCV)
We’ve been using Sunday mornings to explore Isaiah 9:6 which is a prophecy about the coming Messiah – Jesus – and uses five names to describe Him. Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Not only is Jesus the Counselor who can help us navigate life whenever we need help; but He never, ever laughs at our questions or makes us feel small for asking. How cool is that?!
What questions do you have for Jesus?
P.S. – Don’t get so busy with the season that you neglect to meet with God’s people this weekend! God bless!
