Are your dancing shoes ready?

Today is the day before the BIG day – Sam and Valerie’s wedding! We are very excited for them and glad to be adding a daughter to our family! Like any wedding there’s been a lot of preparation to get to this day but now it’s time to decorate the church and attend to final details.

Wedding celebrations are special occasions. Colorful decorations. Carefully arranged music. Pretty dresses and pressed suits. Smiles and happy sighs all around. Gifts, food and dancing! What more could you want?! Oh yah… wedding cake!

It’s no wonder that God uses the image of a wedding celebration to describe what it will be like when we who are part of His kingdom family are gathered together at the end of the ages.

Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying:  “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son…” ~ Matthew 22:1-2

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”  Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” ~ Revelation 22:7-9

The really cool thing is that God’s wedding preparations have been going on for over 2000 years! The most elaborate of earthly wedding celebrations, even the upcoming nuptials of a young prince across the pond, pale in comparison to what God is preparing for us.
