Now I’m ready!

Have you seen the new Florida Orange Juice commercial with the dad sitting at the dining room table? One by one the people sitting around the table tell him what is going to happen that day and it’s NOT good news.

First up is Kenny the paper boy who is going to deliver the paper into the sprinker system at 7:30. Next is Ned who says he’s going to let him know at 10:45 that a computer virus totally wipes out his hard drive. Then a gal tells him that later that day on his way to a business meeting he’s going to blow a tire and have to walk in the rain. Lastly, his daughter sends him a text – while sitting at the same table – that she is still going to be giving him the silent treatment for no apparent reason.

What is unusual and humorous is that as dad receives this forecast of bad things coming at him that day, he not only handles the news well but is almost chipper! How does he do it? By starting his day with Florida Orange Juice!

It’s an obvious exageration of the benefits of OJ but it’s a humorous twist on doing what you can to be prepared for what’s headed your way. What will you rely on this day, this week, for handling the unexpected?

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” ~ Lamentations 3:22-24

I’ll be honest. I don’t rely on God’s mercies as quickly or as often as I should. I tend to tackle stuff on my own until I get tired of hitting my head against the wall. What a difference it would make to begin every day with God and thanking Him for His mercies. If I could remember to do that then I could head into the day saying…

Now I’m ready!
