Why does Susan put up with it?

No… I’m not talking about why Susan puts up with me! That’s a subject for a different blog – one about grace. What I’m referring to is Thor our Yorkie.

If you follow my blog you’ve heard me mention him before. He is cute and cuddly and fun… at times. But he also comes with major attitude. He has taught us a universal principle about dogs – the small the dog, the bigger the ‘tude!

Because Thor is most attached to Susan the attitude is most noticeable when she’s been gone from home, and Saturday was a biggie! After being gone from early morning til mid afternoon Susan turned around and left again to get groceries. By the time she finally got home that evening Thor was MAD!

He would not sit with her – usually his one and only preference. He was testy when taken outside to use the bathroom. He slept at the foot of the bed rather than up close to her. And he left little brown logs in the laundry room rather than outside.

I had to ask myself why anyone would put up with such behavior from a dog! And the only answer was love! Even when Thor is acting in an ugly way because of his stinky attitude she still loves him. And the very same is true of God!

No matter how stinky our attitude becomes, no matter how often we wrestle with the same sin, no matter how many times we blow it… whatever “it” might be for each of us. God never stops loving us! In fact, He loved us before we entered into a relationship with Him.

God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8

God’s love for us is the single strongest motivator in how we choose to do life, which is also why it is the number one target of the enemy – Satan. He will do anything to try to distance us from God’s love. That’s why Paul writes in Romans 8:31-39 with elaborate description that nothing can separate us from the love of God!

How will you let God love on you today?
