Hope on display!

Is there anything our world needs more right now than hope?

  • Our economy continues to struggle causing families immeasurable stress!
  • Spring storms have ravaged our land and killed record numbers of people. The physical rebuilding will take years; the emotional… who knows!
  • Every day seems to bring with it news of another health crisis for family or friends close to us.

I’m not trying to be all doom and gloom but the harsh reality is that life is HARD! You can bury your head in the sand and pretend it doesn’t exist; but that won’t change reality.

The upside to all of this is that those of us who place our trust in Jesus can know and experience a hope that goes beyond anything this world has to offer. A hope that gives a different perspective on life both here and now; and beyond the grave.

The world chases after hope through possessions or economic stability or health or government solutions… Those are not inherently bad but their benefits are only temporary. The hope our world desperately needs is found only in Jesus, and it should be evident in how we do life.

“…worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.” ~ 1 Peter 3:15-16

Peter fully expects that others will see us living with hope and be curious about it. What an amazing notion! Hope on display!

The key is there at the beginning. “…worship Christ as Lord of your life.” When we maintain control and think that we know best then we limit what God can do. But when we surrender control to Him we will come to know the peace that passes understanding and with it – hope!

When did someone watch you react to the hardships of life in such a way that hope was on display and they couldn’t help but ask you about it?
